Story

Homesteader history and the Black Hills National Forest color your stay at the Cabin at Green Mountain. The deep greens, rich browns, bright blues—peaceful seclusion at its best. Towering pine trees, a lush meadow, a bubbling creek, and limestone cliffs rising in the distance inspire exploration as well as quiet introspection. This land comes with a story, and in the stillness, it speaks to you. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in 1917, when the original homesteaders created their lives here. In this incredible spot, aside from the beautifully redesigned cabin, maybe it wasn't all so different then as it is today. The crisp morning air and local wildlife greet you with your cup of coffee as you sit on the front porch and welcome the day. And what a day it could be: hiking the mountain trails, fishing in the pond, or visiting one of the numerous nearby attractions like Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, or Custer State Park—they're all just a short drive away. In the winter, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing are fantastic ways to explore the woods. Fire up the barbecue grill or enjoy a meal at a local restaurant—we'd be happy to make a recommendation. When you return home, your cozy cabin awaits, welcoming you with a gas fireplace, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sleeping space for up to six people, and a parquet card table for games, puzzles, and other projects. Don't forget to gaze upward before you settle down to sleep: the stars light up the night sky, creating a blanket of sparkles over our mountains. Whether your trip to the Black Hills is a chance to spend time with family or for your quiet retreat, the Cabin at Green Mountain welcomes you. This picturesque valley, nestled near Nemo between Rapid City, Sturgis, and Hill City, is your home in the Hills.
