Story

Think visiting a farm would result in a "Green Acres" experience? Think again! This ain't your "grandpappy's" farm! We offer a wide variety of experiences from the leave-me-alone-I'm-resting-and-need-my-coffee experience to the full-immersion-up-to-your-elbows-I-wanna-be-a-farmer experience. Stillwaters Farm, in the heart of West Tennessee, offers the best of both worlds: a way to unplug, and a way to connect. So, plan a visit to rest, relax, reconnect, and rejuvenate! We deliver what the others can't: Sweeping farm vistas, a private, end of the road location, and a minimum of 10 acres of wandering room--all with the convenience of being within 2.5 miles of the city limits! They tell us the farm is reminiscent of childhood–a simpler time filled with exploration and the comforts of coming home to grandma's house. Whether you want to rest and relax in the crisp, clean country air or roll up your sleeves and have your very own farmland adventure, we've got you covered! As a former college professor and founding member of the U.S. Farm Stay Association, I aspire to help keep the small family farm dream alive and educate people on farm life and agriculture and how they affect our daily lives, regardless of where we live. We want to show people how real farms operate, where their ingredients come from, and give them a more practical understanding of what it takes to get food from the fields to the table. Here, you'll have the freedom to your stay whatever you'd like it to be. You can relax inside your 1,000 square foot private cottage, wander the grounds to take in the view, spend time with the livestock, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Looking for something a little more "hands on"? Guests can participate in one or more of the following basic farmstay activities, dependent upon weather conditions, guests comfort level, and season: morning feeding, hay, water, chicken watching and egg gathering, vineyard keeping, gardening, animal care and training. Farm interaction is provided only up to our guests' level of confidence. Want to roll up your sleeves and dive right in? We would love it! Or, if you'd prefer, you can sit back, sip a cup of tea, and chuckle to yourself as you watch us work. It's all up to YOU! Also, our "weekend farmers" can enjoy our common areas, including a pole barn pavilion gathering and grilling area, fire pit, and approximately 10 acres of ambling room that overlooks our main pasture. Fun, age-appropriate WORKSHOPS are also available, priced individually. Workshops must be selected and reserved during the booking process. Our attention to detail reflects our commitment not only to service, but also to quality. You will not find corners cut in our décor, furnishings, or essentials. Each item in our accommodations, from the largest piece of furniture to the smallest linen to the soap in the bath, has been thoughtfully selected and/or handcrafted with your comfort and the overall aesthetic in mind. We do everything in our power to ensure that you are receiving our very best. PLEASE NOTE: This entire property is a NO PETS, NO SMOKING, DRUG-FREE facility. Aside from participating in farm activities, there are many things to do in West Tennessee within one hour of Stillwaters Farm. For off-farm activities, whether it is horseback riding, Civil War sightseeing, antiquing, fall foliage sightseeing, boating, dining out, or any of hundreds of other activities, we are happy to point our guests in the right direction. CONNECTIVITY: We provide our guests with the best internet connections available in our area. However, because of the limitations of rural access, we enable one device per adult guest to ensure that all guests have equal access to browsing. NOTE: The vintage nature of this accommodation necessitates certain considerations. Instead of limiting our guests to tub baths only, our claw foot tub is equipped with a shower, but these tubs cannot be outfitted with shower doors. High-quality shower curtains are used, instead. We understand that most guests are unaccustomed to this set-up, and rest-assured, this was state-of-the-art technology for its time--and for the ambiance of the facility. We also make use of heirloom linens here and there--rescued from area antique shops and family caches. AMENITIES FOR THIS ACCOMMODATION: Central heat/air conditioning, baking sheet, basic soaps, bathtub/shower, BBQ utensils, bed linens. carbon monoxide monitor, charcoal grill, coffee pods, creamer, sugar, computer-friendly work space, covered patio, deadbolt locks, dishes, cookware, flatware, dishwasher, electric range, extra pillows, fire extinguisher, fire pit, fire starter for grill, first aid kit, flat screen TV with DVD/VCR, free private parking on premises, garbage disposal, garden/yard, grill wood, hair dryer, hangers, iron/ironing board, Keurig coffeemaker, lighter stick for grill, Ninja smoothie blender, oven, pack 'n' play, paper towels, piano (yes, a PIANO), private entrance, private library of books (adult and children), recliner, refrigerator/freezer, shampoo/conditioner, smoke detectors, tea service, toaster, toilet paper, toiletries package--mouthwash/toothpaste, towels/washcloths, trash can, washer/dryer, wi-fi. We had a fantastic time at Stillwaters Farm. Valeria was friendly and helpful from booking to checkout. We loved visiting with all the animals - especially Dusty. The cottage was cozy for our family of four. We appreciated having pots and pans as well as a good set of knives for our cooking. We were there during a snowstorm and some single digit nights but the cottage was warm and comfortable the entire time. Valeria took us out sledding in the back pasture one afternoon which was so much fun. We really enjoyed every aspect of our stay and hope to return one day.We had a fantastic time at Stillwaters Farm. Valeria was friendly and helpful from booking to checkout.
